Study Trip to the Western Balkans
On behalf of the “Open Regional Fund for South-East-Europe” and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), EUROSOC#DIGITAL organised an advanced training of governmental and civil representatives from Western Balkan states in Macedonia.
The integration of citizens in decision-making processes in a city or municipality is not only a question of political culture. Public institutions profit extremely from their citizens’ contributions, if they are channelled correctly and supported with mobile technology. This advanced training and study trip took place in four of the in this matter most advanced European cities. The participants were able to learn how to combine governmental efficacy and better communication with citizens.
The delegation received insights from four cities in the Netherlands and Germany that have used modern mobile technology to develop effective tool for citizen communication. This is not only useful to better integrate citizens in the decision-making processes of the city but also to make administrative work more effectively and efficiently. More precisely, it results in cost savings and less work load for employees. The delegation members have gained knowledge and suggestions which help to establish similar systems in the Western Balkans.
